Access keys
In most modern web browsers, access keys provide keyboard shortcuts to commonly used navigation options. Access keys may be of particular use to those users who have difficulty in using a mouse or other pointing device, and can be of benefit to all users as navigation shortcuts. The Queensland Department of Education is currently in the process of adding access key support to its web sites.
For sites that currently have access key support, the keys used are:

How to use access keys
Internet Explorer

Windows: Hold down the Alt key and the relevant number key, release, then press the Enter key

Mac: Hold down the Ctrl key and press the relevant number key
Firefox and Mozilla-based browsers

Windows: Hold down the Alt key and press the relevant number key

Windows/Mac: Hold down the Shift and Esc keys, release, then press the relevant number key
